Home Décor And Historical Tapestries

By Jackie Kent

From the ancient time, individuals have been using textiles for different reasons according to their needs and requirements. Whether it is woven textiles for business purpose or warm blankets, textiles are important part of our daily existence.

An increasing demand for textile as well as our wish to make our homes beautiful has led to the creation of art on fabrics. They range from classy weaves to plain colored fabrics. The two types of art that are very popular are tapestries and wall hangings. They have history that leads us to millennia. The artists of different countries have contributed their work of art through fabric design and innovation.

Of late, more and more people are getting interested in decorating their homes with tapestries instead of different kinds of convention types of embellishment items. Those who wish to provide something new to their homes opt for tapestries because of their rich history and flexibility.

Conventional Tapestry Designs

Even though you will find a lot of modern art in tapestries in the market, many people prefer traditional designs to modern ones. There is rich history in tapestries ranging from Pre-Raphaelite art and William Morris (1800s), Rococo works and French Baroque’s (1600s and 1700s), Gothic Wall Hangings, etc.

Many people prefer traditional designs because of their historical setting and rich traditions. You will find different types of themes and designs consisting of varied subject matters such as the development of individual artists and art group’s, the development of artistic movement, rise and fall of nations, etc. What makes the tapestries more appealing is the fact that every single type pf tapestry has its own history. The art lovers just love the combination of historical pictures and art in the tapestries which they use to place in their homes to make their homes look amazing and full of history.

There are quite a few tapestries from ancient times that are made in such a way that they are more than just tapestries. They are considered as masterpieces. It is being said that the Middle Ages is the most flourishing period for tapestries which produced popular pieces such as the Lady and the Unicorn series and the Bayeux Tapestry. Actually, it is a first time that people regard tapestries as something more than mere home décor items and wall hangings.

Increasing recognition

Those who love art simply love the replicas of the original works of art. The replicas of the original masterpieces are made in such a way that they look just like the real artwork of a famous artist. The replicas are able to capture the magnificence and happenings of the traditional art and they merge them with advanced weaving methods to produce great tapestries. The tapestries produce look just like the original ones and they last for a long time.
